In Honor of Our Fallen We Support Sierra Leone
Donations will begin
Monday, September 11, 2017 through Friday, September 29, 2017
At this moment in West Africa, the mudslide disaster marks another grim chapter in the recent history. This nation has endured more than a decade of civil war and a deadly Ebola crisis that claimed almost 4,000 lives.
It’s been almost a month since torrential rains caused widespread flooding and a mountainside to collapse on the outskirts of Sierra Leone's capital, Freetown, sending a blanket of mud into several communities. Life is gradually returning to normal, but residents of the devastated regions face a slog toward recovery.
Destructive floods are a common annual occurrence in Freetown, but due to a lack of regulation and insufficient consideration for minimum standards and environmental laws, millions of Sierra Leoneans are living in dangerously vulnerable homes.
In honor of our fallen family, this September 11, 2017,
our goal is to collect 300 bagged toiletry items to send to Sierra Leone (with the following items):
- Double pack bar of soap
- Deodorant Stick
- Large tube of toothpaste
- Packaged tooth brush
- 1 pair of white tube socks
Donations can be dropped off in the main lobby or in Parent Resource Room 109. The duration of collections will begin Monday, September 11, 2017 through Friday, September 29, 2017. Please contact Ms.Larissa.email@example.com or call 202.698.0655. Thank you for continuing support and cooperation. Ms. Hilda was a phenomenal individual that served Leckie and its community. We would like nothing more than to honor her and all who were lost during September 11, 2001.
